Renewal of the Les Colladetes Wind Farm. Project supported by the aid programs for investment in the repowering of wind facilities, in the technological and environmental renovation of hydroelectric power plants up to 10 MW, and in innovative installations for the recycling of wind turbine blades (“Circular Repowering Programs”) under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Enervent

Wind farm repowering project funded by the Next Generation EU program, managed through the Spanish Government’s Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE): from 54 to 6 wind turbines, while maintaining the same installed capacity.

Scope of Work

The works covered all phases of the project, from initial permitting to commissioning. First, administrative procedures, tendering, awarding, and contracting were completed. Subsequently, preliminary studies and on-site setting-out were carried out.

During the execution phase, the decommissioning of existing wind turbines and facilities was included, as well as the construction of the new project (civil works, electrical installations, wind turbine assembly, and substation adaptation).

Finally, environmental restoration works were executed, and the wind farm was commissioned, including grid connection and the start of power production.

Results

The repowering of the Les Colladetes Wind Farm has enabled the replacement of 54 legacy wind turbines with 6 new state-of-the-art units, reaching an installed capacity of 36.6 MW, which represents a substantial increase in energy production. This has resulted in a significant reduction in environmental impact and land use.

Enervent

The repowering of Les Colladetes Wind Farm has achieved:

  • Reduced environmental and visual impact by replacing 54 turbines with only 6, while maintaining the same installed capacity.
  • Enhanced energy quality, as the new wind turbines integrate cutting-edge technology to improve grid reliability and stability.
  • The improvement in energy efficiency has increased the projected electricity output of the project, thanks to the higher performance of the new wind turbines, avoiding the emission of 16,196 additional tonnes of CO₂ compared to the original project.
